周新茂,男,博士,1987年6月生云南省洱源县人,国家基金获得者。现任副教授,硕士生导师。
主要从事植物分类系统进化方面的研究。先后承担完成了国家自然科学基金项目、国家科技厅项目、云南省科技厅项目、学院项目等8项;获得云南省青年千人称号;在SCI刊物上发表论文50余篇;出版专著1部。
在蕨类植物的分类学、分子系统学方面取得了突出成绩,主要包括以下两个方面:
(1) 厘清了世界范围多个石松类和蕨类复杂类群(如卷柏科、石松科、牙蕨科以及水龙骨科石韦属和禾叶蕨亚科等)的分子系统学发育关系,重建了科、亚科及属下的分类系统。
(2) 对中国及东南亚地区的石松类和蕨类开展大量分类学研究,共发表石松类和蕨类植物1新科、20余个新属、26个新种。
